Accepting new cases and partnerships!
At this time, Out of the Box Behavior Services does not directly accept insurance. However, we provide detailed invoices, often referred to as "superbills," which you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
A superbill is a document that includes all of the necessary information your insurance provider may require, such as service dates, provider credentials, diagnosis codes, and billing (CPT) codes. This allows you to seek reimbursement for services received from an out-of-network provider.
We strongly recommend contacting your insurance company prior to beginning services to determine whether your plan offers out-of-network reimbursement for services provided by a BCBA. We can provide the specific billing codes used for services so you can verify coverage in advance.
For individuals receiving services through the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS), supports such as Clinical Behavior Management Services may be eligible for funding through your allocated DDS budget. Approval and availability of these services are determined by DDS, your case manager, and your Individual Plan (IP) and funding allocation.
We accept multiple forms of payment and are happy to discuss payment plan options in certain circumstances to help make services more accessible.
Yes! Collaboration across environments is a core part of our approach. Observing individuals in their school setting can provide valuable insight into how skills and behaviors present across different environments, allowing for more individualized and effective support.
School-based observations are dependent on each school or agency’s specific policies regarding outside providers. We are happy to work collaboratively with school teams and follow all required procedures to obtain approval for observation.
Prior to any communication or observation, a signed Release of Information (ROI) form is required to allow for coordination between all parties. This form is included as part of your onboarding paperwork.
We have established hourly rates for each service we provide, which are aligned with standard insurance reimbursement rates for similar services. The total cost of services will vary depending on the scope, complexity, and setting(s) involved.
Because each situation is unique, we review your specific needs during a free introductory consultation and provide a clear estimate of total costs before any services begin. We are committed to transparency, and you will always know what to expect financially. There are no surprises.
For example, a comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) may vary in total cost depending on the level of support needed. If an individual requires observation across multiple environments, such as home, school, and community settings, additional time may be needed to ensure a thorough and meaningful assessment.
Yes, in certain cases. Services at Out of the Box Behavior Services are primarily delivered by a BCBA to ensure a high level of clinical expertise and individualized care.
However, in some situations such as cases involving higher levels of aggression, safety concerns, or the need for more intensive support, Behavior Technician (BT) services may be incorporated as part of the treatment plan to ensure safety and consistency during intervention.
All Behavior Technicians are trained in skill acquisition, de-escalation strategies, and crisis management, and work under the direct supervision of the BCBA overseeing the case.
As part of our philosophy, services are always tailored to the individual. Our goal is to establish sustainable supports by systematically fading provider involvement and strengthening caregivers’ ability to independently implement strategies across settings. This helps ensure long-term success and continuity of care beyond our direct services.
Yes, we can attend IEP meetings as part of our collaborative support. While we are happy to support families during the IEP process, Out of the Box Behavior Services does not provide advocacy services. Instead, we focus on contributing professional insight and working collaboratively with the school team to support the individual’s success.
Our role in these meetings is to provide clinical consultation specifically related to behavioral needs. This may include reviewing current behavior supports (such as an FBA or BIP), analyzing available data, and offering recommendations to ensure that goals, supports, and interventions are aligned and meaningful to the student.
We understand that IEP meetings can feel overwhelming, and our goal is to bring a calm, supportive presence grounded in clinical expertise to help guide productive and effective discussions.
